One thing you should know right off the bat is that home businesses based on mlm and affiliate programs do work! They are no longer the domain of envelope stuffers or chain letters.
Today, millions of people just like you are earning solid incomes doing outstanding work, being our own boss and working out of our own homes. You will learn that you don’t need large, expensive offices to be successful. You can do this with just a computer.
A successful home business based on network marketing can usually be started with very little money and can quickly develop into a full-time income! Yes, network marketing is changing the way we do business today and YOU can get in on the action now!
So how do they work? - Glad you asked!
Today many companies find it very expensive to do their own advertising so they have developed a strong business model by using people, like you and I, working out of our homes, to generate the bulk of their sales. These are known as Affiliate Programs.
Basically, the company gets people to join as ‘affiliates’ (not to be confused with ‘employees’) to market their products or services for them. The company finds it a lot less expensive to have hundreds, thousands, or even millions of people selling their products and paying those affiliates only when they actually produce a sale.
The best part about affiliate programs, however, is that you do not have to stock any products or worry about shipping or payment, the company does all of that for you.
Normally all you have to do is to refer customers to the pre-made web site that the company assigns to you. When YOUR customer does his business (use your imagination here) and joins the company’s program or purchases something you get paid. Once the transaction takes place, the company's computers automatically credit your account with the commissions you have earned for the sale. Affiliate Programs are one of the fastest growing, easiest to start, home business opportunities on the internet today!
There are thousands of home businesses based solely on affiliate programs on the internet. Why? Because they are easy to start and run. You can start with nothing more than a computer and an internet connection (which you already have or else you wouldn't be reading this!). Yes, it’s really that simple.
There are, in fact, a couple of types of affiliate programs. The first is simply a one or two teir program where you sign up with a company to sell their product and earn a commission on your sales.
A good example of this type of program is Amazon.com. Many thousands of people have joined their affiliate program (myself included). Basically, if I make a sale through this website or through placing ads (either on other sites on the internet or with offline ads) the sale will be tracked to me through my affiliate ID and I will receive a commission for it.
We may also be able to recruit people for these programs and get paid a percentage of their sales, however we can only go one level down (you'll understand more after you read the next paragraphs). I know several people who make very good livings using just these types of affiliate programs.
The next type of program is, are your ready for this? MLM - Multi Level Marketing. Wait, don't leave, they're not what you think!
MLM - Multi-Level Marketing (aka direct selling, network marketing): a distribution system for consumer goods and services in which companies sell via sales networks of independent distributors who normally work at home and are rewarded for personal sales, as well as sales by those sellers they recruit and the sales of further recruited sellers and so on.
That was a very broad definition of what MLM is. Read on to see why MLM programs should be included in your home business startup plan.
Network Marketing, also called multilevel marketing, person-to-person marketing, and one-on-one marketing is a form of direct selling. You are already familiar with this type of selling through Avon, Tupperware, Mary Kay, and Fuller Brush, just to name a few.
Direct selling companies market goods and services through networks of thousands of independent distributors (like me). We distributors either buy products from the companies and then resell them to consumers (not recommended when you are first starting out), or we sell products on behalf of the companies for a commission without purchasing or stocking anything (the preferred way when just starting out). As you can see, MLM is basically an affiliate program with a twist.
Network marketing gives direct selling a new spin. In both types of companies, distributors make money by selling products directly to consumers.
But in network marketing distributors can also make money by building their own sales organizations and receiving commissions or bonuses on the sales generated by the distributors in their downlines. They build these sales organizations (often called "downlines") by recruiting new distributors, and helping those new distributors recruit other distributors, and so on (thus Multilevel).
Confused yet? Let me try this - I joined a great MLM company Sound Future International Marketing Group (SFI) and I am making money by selling their products and earning commissions.
Lets say that you join from my website (or from an ad I placed) and are placed in my "downline". I do not make any money from you unless you purchase something and I get the commission.
Now lets say "Joe" joins under you through an ad you placed. If Joe buys something, you earn a commission and I also earn a percentage or bonus since I recruited you. Follow so far? Good. Now lets say that Joe recruits "Mary" and Mary buys something. Joe would get the commission and you and I would get a percentage because Mary is in our downline. So you see, the more people you recruit and teach to duplicate the system, the more money you can make!
Here are a few facts about this growing industry:
- Every week, more than 55,000 people in the US alone sign up as network marketers.
- In excess of 10 million people in the US alone are distributors for network marketing companies.
- In the US, sales in the network marketing industry are in the $30 billion range.
- Network marketing is offered in more than 140 countries.
- 65% of all network marketing distributors are women.
- Approximately 80% of networkers are part-time and 20% are full-time. For the vast majority of networkers, it is a "second job" with the hopes of making some extra monthly income.
Of course the best way to make lots of money with these programs is to recruit new people to join under your leadership. When they join in your "downline" you can earn income from their efforts as well as your own. Many, many people are getting very good incomes from these affiliate programs. Most offer some form of training and support (something I find extremely useful) and therefore should be something you look for when you decide to join one of them.
Some of the things you should look for when considering a MLM program to join are:
- It should provide a quality product or service with a proven system to sell it. (Click here to see our great line of products)
- It should have a sophisticated tracking program to manage your statistics. You will want to know where your customers are coming from (i.e. your ads, ezines or your own web site).
- It should be FREE to join. You should NOT have to fork over your hard earned money to join.
- It should provide training and resources for your use at any time.
- You should receive a good commission on your sales.
- It should offer 24/7 support, a very important factor because you will have hundreds of questions when you start and will want prompt answers.
- You should be able to build a large downline, and not be restricted to two or three levels.
- You should not have to earn large amounts of money in order to get paid. And you will want to be paid at least monthly. Some programs make you wait until you have accumulated hundreds of dollars before they pay you!
- The company should have been in business for some time. There are some who are gone almost as fast as they start!
