Banner Exchange Programs

If you have done any amount of web surfing at all, it is not hard to see that the most popular promotion tools on the Internet today are banners. The main reasons for this is, they work.

Did you know, however, that the least expensive way to get your banner shown on several hundred sites is banner exchange programs?

Not only is the price right for a banner exchange, but it's also one of the easiest forms of advertising. You simply need to paste a bit of HTML code into your website and upload your banner to the exchange program site.

So what should you look for in a banner exchange program? Here's a little guide to help you find the best one for you:

1. Exchange Ratio (i.e. how many times must you show their banner to get your banner shown) - Not all banner exchange programs have the same display ratio. They can vary from 1:1 to 5:1, but the average ratio is 2:1.

2. Banner Size - Banners come in many sizes, however, the most popular one is 468x60 pixels.

3. Targeted Visitors - One thing we all would like to get is targeted visitors to our web sites. However, many exchange programs do not offer targeted banner exchanges, so your banner could end up on a site with irrelevant content. If you can find one, you will be better off with a program that offers targeting by category.

4. Tracking and Reporting - Most reputable banner exchange programs offer online tracking so you may want to stay away from those that don't. Without this feature, you have no way to know if your banner exchange is effective.

Advertising with banner exchange programs is as simple as joining for free and copying and pasting a few lines of code into your existing web page. You then upload your banners and provide the linking information where you want your visitors to be sent to.

Some of you may be wondering how you are supposed to 'show' the banners in order to have your banner shown (exchange ratio) when you don't even have a web site. That is often the problem with people who have just joined an affiliate program and want to do banner advertising.
