Hi folks,
Finally March is here :-) This signifies the end of another winter. Not an unusually bad winter, however, winter is winter and I'm glad it's just about over.
February wasn't a particularly bad month for sales. I'm still getting a few emails saying that I just made a sale or that money has been put into my email account. It seems that people are finally recovering from the Holiday Spending Spree and are starting to look online again for things they need.

A Profitable Opt-In List

You finally realize that you need a good opt-in list. After reading countless articles, seeking expert advice and reading many success stories of people creating a small fortune with opt-in lists you finally decide to build one of your own. Then it happens, you think you know everything there is to know about opt-in lists and have followed the experts' advice to the T and you still aren't able to make a profit.
In fact, you may be losing money. Although you may have hired writers to help you out, or there were some other expenses incurred, nothing seems to be working. Even if you have a big list, but only a very small percentage actually buys from you, you're still losing money. You’ll quickly realize this fact after a few months of checking your statistics and sales figures.
So what could have gone wrong? Why have others succeeded where you have failed?
The most common mistake is that you dove straight in. You chose a topic that you thought could be quite popular and would earn you money. This is just not the case. Just because you emailed people on your list doesn’t mean they are going to buy instantly.
There are a few things you can do to help make your opt-in list profitable.
1) Get your customers to trust you and your products first.
One of the most important aspects of selling is to know your product. If you are an affiliate you should first purchase the product and use it. If you don't feel comfortable telling others how great the product is, you may be better off dumping that affiliate program and finding another in a niche you know something about.
Find a product or service that people want and need. Although it may not be your forte, if you provide a service and product that you have researched, learned about well, and believe in you can carry it forward.
While it is true that it is best to sell something that you have interest in, not all people have the same interest as you. Do your research well and you should see the profits come in.
If you are the producer of the product, even better.
2) Simply blasting an email to your opt-in list would not make you an expert and a believable seller. You should start by putting articles on your website to let your list members know that you are an expert in your field. Tell them of some of the benefits they can expect to find with your product.
Forums are another good way to gain knowledge about your customers, about their wants and needs, and then you can target those wants and needs in your emails. There are plenty of good software solutions for starting your own forum or you can use a 3rd party program.
3) Contact other opt-in list users. It's not really that hard to see who is building a list. Just visit any website and you should see they have forms for signing up for this or that. As long as these sites are dealing with the same niche, but not competing with you, they may be a very good prospect for a joint venture.
Even though you may be just starting out and your list may be small, don't be afraid to contact other list builders. They may have small lists also so may be eager to make a deal with you. You may be able to simply exchange ads with each other thus getting your product in front of their list as well as your own.
If you do this with several sites, you may see your ad in from of thousands of opt-in customers in no time and at no cost.
Building a profitable opt-in list won’t just happen overnight. Opt-in lists are built from scratch and thus require a lot of time and effort. As your list grows, so should your profits. Always remember to make sure your subscribers are happy and satisfied and they will be willing to buy from you for years to come.

1. Uh Oh
Uh Oh I've just mistakenly deleted part of a previously saved document that I was updating? What should I do?
Usually, the "Undo" command under "Edit" on the Task Bar will recover it for you. But if that doesn't work - don't despair.
Simply save (click 'Save As' under the file menu) the current document under a new name. Then open the old one again, and the old document will be there without any changes. You can then cut and paste the part you deleted into the new one.
This has saved me on more than one occassion ;-)
